activism and campaigning
OneConversation is a grassroots activist movement giving voice to learning disable and / or autistic adults through campaign activities. OneConversation started life in 2016 as an annual protest march through Mansfield’s town centre, called OneWalk. The march created change, but only for one day, so a small band of learning disabled and / autistic activists, along with Tracy Radford and Brad English, decided to do more. OneConversation was born with a desire to use community action to raise awareness and drive change.
Since it’s inception, OneConversation has co-created and delivered our alternative Hate Crime initiative, ‘Let’s Talk’ to secondary schools across Nottinghamshire, held Tapas and Talk events at Mansfield bar / restaurant, Capo Lounge, and has now expanded its impact to include academic research, university teaching days, being an Oliver McGowan Training partner, and developing a learning disabled simulation project with Nottinghamshire Healthcare.
OneConversation is a co-creation, facilitated by H Harris and Bonnie Brown
Sessions run Thursdays 1:30 – 3:30pm at The Old Library, Leeming Street, Mansfield NG18 1NG
