What is unanima?
Unanima is an arts development organisation based in Mansfield that exists to dismantle the systemic barriers that suppress the ambitions of learning disabled and autistic people within the arts and society.
Unanima was established in 2008 by Tracy Radford and Jayne Williams, who together pioneered a radical co-creative theatre model where learning disabled and autistic artists are not just included but are the creative and decision-making force behind our work.
Building on the success of this, Unanima have harnessed this approach to have an ever-expanding impact on societal conceptions of what learning disabled people are capable of through initiatives in comedy, music, writing, campaigning, university teaching days, collaborations with the NHS and more.
Our work places learning disabled people front and centre, celebrating, training, and developing their inclusion in professional creative spaces.
As a National Portfolio Organisation for Arts Council England, we proudly use this investment to uphold Sector Transformation, pushing for an arts industry where learning disabled artists are not exceptions but the rule.
